THE KINGS' VALLEY

HIDDEN SECRET

Thomas M. Simms

Abstract

This document outlines a proposal for a mission to locate the tombs of Pharaoh Akhu En Aten and his Queen Nerfert Iti employing a novel technique of sonic imaging. In addition to investigating such a technological advance, this approach is a convenient and cost effective precursor to any excavation campaign. Moreover, generating a full three-dimensional map of the original watercourse from the head of the Kings’ Valley to its exit would be the first outcome.

Theoretical evidence is presented which indicates a likely location for the tombs. The limited empirical data available also seems to support these theoretical conclusions. An outline shows the importance of this work to theology and history, as well as its incalculable significance to Egyptology. The ability to see what lies under today’s surfaces and to make those images available quickly will allow rational explorations of Egypt’s heritage to take place.
